Carbon dioxide and temperature - the relationship

Climate records reconstructed from bubbles of ancient air trapped in ice-core samples going back 420,000 years show a strong link between temperature and atmospheric carbon dioxide.

Higher temperatures lead to higher levels of carbon dioxide, and higher levels of carbon dioxide lead to higher temperatures.
